Hello,
Earlier this week I gave everyone following me at HalfplanetPress a bit of early access to this week’s FREE FICTION FRIDAY. The promo opened before my scheduled share date, so I figured I might as well give you a few extra days to download the excerpts, samples, freebies, novellas, and stories that my fellow authors are putting out into the world.
It’s now Friday, so it’s time for me to share it here too.
Today’s FREE FICTION FRIDAY is an impressive mix of sci-fi and fantasy. There’s a sci-fi collection that includes recipes and poems, I’ve managed to sneak in a crude sci-fi comedy with an existential horror ending, and there’s some space opera, some dark fantasy, dragons and spaceships and everything in between.
Basically it’s all over the place. It’s great. I think there’s something for everyone in this one.
You can click this handy button to check it out, or click the picture above.

The poetry stuff ($)
Earlier this week I posted a poem about time called Sum[m]er.
I took the paywall off it so everyone could comment and hang out, which means I had to move the paid content to this second email.

a few spoilers for future poetry projects
You can actually unlock a free few weeks of the paid tier by bringing in a certain number of people to my publication through the Referrals function. If you bring in one person you’re entered into my $20 gift card giveaway, if you bring in 3 or more you get onto the paid tier for a while.
Referrals is a way for you to send a unique link to a friend. If they subscribe here (free or paid) using that link, you get a point on your leaderboard. So there’s more than one way to get onto the paid tier.
How the poem happened
The poem Sum[m]er is part of a third, sort of secret poetry collection that is intended to merge with FALSE VACUUM and BRANCH DENSITY (two collections I put out on Amazon in 2022, and never had the budget to advertise). I wrote both FV and BD in 2015 as ten-poem collections, and returned to them long after my graduation to make them larger, telling their stories in more detail and texture.
