Hello all. Today I bring you a brand new episode of my talk show, Strange Stories with Phillip Carter. It’s the best one yet, not least because I’ve had my pal Sejul Nerve on board as technician, and got to put 100% of my brain into the talky, showy part.

Fun fact: The orange I am using for this podcast (and which might later turn up in the newsletter) is based off the orange record label on the RCA vinyls of 1970s Bowie tracks. As soon as I saw that orange, I fell in love with it.
If you told my seventeen year old self that he would one day be a talk show host, and that this work would include editing photos of author’s heads onto sci-fi backgrounds, he would probably think he had been drugged.
But it’s great. I love it. My first Sci-Fi guest, John Coon, returned for this episode. He’s returning to talk about his recent double bookbub deal.
After releasing Alien People, John quickly found a fanbase that was asking for more. Lucky for them, he was writing a trilogy.
The next book is called AMONG HIDDEN STARS and is the one John has described as “INDIANA JONES IN SPACE”. I admit to some level of envy when it comes to John’s talent for elevator pitches.
How does he do it? John says that his journalistic skills have made his Sci-Fi catchy and engaging. The same can be said for his pitches, and indeed the titles of his books

I won’t spoil much more. All I’ll say is that John deserves all the success that is coming his way, and I am honoured to be the first host to have gotten hold of him now that he is hurtling towards the Sci-Fi hall of fame!
