Sejul Nerve (Anagram for Jules Verne) is a Dutch scifi writer. In 2021 he published his debut novel “Out of pace” (Dutch title “Uit het ritme) and this October he will release his bundle of short stories. Recurring themes in his work are psychiatric disorders, original concepts that could shape our future, and time travel. Apart from being a writer he’s a scifi connoiseur collecting and reviewing classic sci-fi novels that made the genre as we know it. He writes in Dutch is fluent in English. He primarily uses twitter to connect to sci-fi writers worldwide and enjoys watching the genre grow.
He’s a smart guy, and he’s too modest about it. He wrote the above paragraph for himself, but there’s a lot more I could say about him, about his dedication to making characters react in realistic ways, to his passion for making the science in science fiction accessible and entertaining. I could write something big here, but 98% of it was covered in the following youtube video. We talked about how to fix time travel tropes, how to add real-world science into your science fiction, and why Marvel stakes are too damn high and somehow too damn low.
(And yes, I plan to get a better webcam soon)
If you are a comedian, sci-fi author, scientist, or someone with a story to tell inside the publishing and writing industries, comment below. My podcast is officially full until October, but I’m still looking for guests.
(I plan to incorporate this into my upcoming radio show too, somehow)
