I love sentient robots, AIs, androids, ancient alien or not alien relics. Ancient alien civilisation shrouded with mystery, but discovered finally is one of my passionate storylines.

Ancient artefacts, relics; a combination of SciFi with archeological thriller is also something I love. ☺️

Me too. Have you got WBTH? It's full of them.

I'm repubbing the Lucy Universe soon and she's a godlike AI.

You'll be pleased to know my next book (THE STEPHANIE GLITCH) is an ancient world inside an ancient world inside an ancient world inside an ancient world inside...

Oh! I do have WBTH! I had purchased it last year. I thought I had already read it. Sorry. I’ve brought it forward, hopefully will be able to read it soon, after some ARCs I have.

The Stephanie Glitch sounds exciting!

Thank you, Phillip. 🧡

From your comment I reckon WBTH will be perfect for you. I thought you had it! (I do try to remember everyone who tells me they've got or will get my books, a privilege only us small, broke authors can enjoy).

Yes TSG is very exciting! I'm querying her with UNBOUND BOOKS later this week, and if she is picked up she'll be crowdfunded within their platform.

If not, she'll be released as seven eBook novellas, then a hardback in 2024.

I've got some ancient artefacts on the way too. Lax Morales from WBTH has a prequel novella, where he's dealing with zombie aliens. Lots of fun

Thank goodness for your privileged memory!

I sadly can’t remember much, side effects of the opiates and concentrate liquid morphine I take because of my spinal cord issues. Already had a surgery with a 25cm vertical plate on my lower back. Hopefully next year they will be able to operate on me again on the dorsal area next year, and a hip replacement too. The nerves effect my hips and legs too, neuropathy pains are terrible to withstand. Gods!

Sounds wonderful, Phillip! I wish you all the best with the query. Fingers crossed.

Zombie aliens?? Ugh? 😂 I love SciFi comedy. I hope it won’t be too gory. Lol.

Going to try to sleep now, Phillip. It’s nearly 2 in the morning here in Spain. Late night is the best for me to read, two hours aprox of lucidity before the meds make me drowsier.

Goodnight, Phillip. Take care. 🧡🙏

I'm partial to sentient cats (Earth-type) or felines (think Man-Kzin Wars). I don't know that that would mix well with the other ideas here.

Expand full comment
Phillip Carter's avatar

I've balanced conflicting laws of physics, I will try my best to manage this!

The Kzin intrigue me as a sci-fi concept as they appear in more than one writer's stories, though I am terrible with names, I recall reading some stories about them (this inability to remember author names is quite awkward when networking...)

I do have bipedal cat people in the story once known as WHALE, so they could come back for this!

Andrea Beatrice Reed's avatar

bipedal? Cats are NOT bipedal.

Expand full comment
Phillip Carter's avatar

I have noticed. That's why I said Cat People, not cats. It's a phrase among some readers for any bipeds that share feline features (claws, cat ears etc)

And thanks for the recommendation, yep it's some of the Man-Kzin wars I've read, but not much

THE CHILDREN'S HOUR is excellent. Some of the authors who wrote for the Man-Kzin Wars were MUCH better than others. They developed story lines and characters worth following.

An abusive parent dies suddenly and is reincarnated into a pet, which is given to one of their children who, in turn, abuse it.

This is a whole story idea in itself. It's good too, but I don't think I'm the right person for it.

I don't think I'll do this one. I'm hardwired for novelty, and having grown up with an animal abusing, abusive parent, I feel I'd subconsciously be dragged along old tracks here, which would make the story less interesting to write, and less interesting for you to read. I'd prefer to explore something I haven't experienced, as that's where the interesting writing lives.

I have to congratulate you on the timing of this idea, as I was just battling another bout of 'should have kicked him up and down the stairs while I had the chance'.

It's a good story idea, but not in my hands.

*He said, whilst having an idea for a story based on it*
