This is a simple email. Click the button above and you’ll be fired into a big shiny page which will show you a load of full, discounted sci-fi books. Some of them are new releases, others have been around a while.
I won’t post these things on here often. I’m thinking of getting a separate newsletter just for Halfplanet Press where I can share books, free books, writing events, resources, etc. Comment if you’re interested and have any ideas for it. I don’t know many small publishers with newsletters.
And I know I owe you all a short story. I am working on one as we speak.
And now for the newsletter part. I went on a brain holiday a few days ago, so my last two posts were automated. I had a good time, escaped my bedroom/office/stockroom setup and walked around Liverpool for two days seeing friends, drinking cocktails, and eating burgers. It gave me a few ideas for various projects, including how to get WBTH stocked in Forbidden Planet.
So I’m back now. Today I’m sharing another book discount group I’ve joined. The way I find these things is by joining them as an author, so you’ll probably always see at least one of my stories or books in them. This isn’t my sneaky way of flogging you with my book every few weeks, it’s just a side effect of how I encounter these deals. I’m on Bookfunnel every day looking for the perfect group promos for me. I created my own one a while back too.
Anyway, I’m quite tempted by Rebel Without A Clue, even though I don’t think I’m the target audience. The cover is very nice and I am always on the hunt for more comedic sci-fi people to add to my growing talk show. I may have to say hello to Kerrie sometime.
On the subject of that, we should have some big guest announcements coming soon. I’ve been quite busy. I found a large handful of various industry talents and have somehow convinced them to come and chat about writing, acting, scripts, and all things in between.
And I might try to resurrect my old podcast, the one where I talked once a week and read a poem out. I miss that.
One final note about my other project.
My Kickstarter now has 70 hours to gather £1000, but if I am perfectly honest, I did not have the platform or the finances available to properly advertise it in the beginning. That does not mean it won’t happen, as I am going to query the entire trilogy to an agent or two in the new year. But it is a bit sad. I had most of the thing plotted out. Looking back over the trilogy, and how the chapters are set out in an episodic structure, it would have made more sense to make this a Patreon project alongside the talk show. But when an idea grips me, it is very hard to wriggle free.
