Precisely, and your podcast still resonates with me today. I remember you pointing out my answer to a question about aliens and time travel was quite clever, which I thought was funny because I do definitely have a bit of a reputation as a goofball, which I think helps the serious stuff shine.
You made me realise that and I would not have realised otherwise, so a great podcast. Educational not just for audience but for participant.
How lovely to read your thoughts on creativity and the strength it takes to just be yourself. I, too, enjoy the company of myself. Many years have passed before others appreciated those differences in me. Although I may not agree in totality with you, I do agree that we need more people who aren’t afraid to be themselves. Thank you, and may God Bless.
A few years back I decided to read the Bible before the congregation…, it was a promise I made to my best friend, and thought about how I should read. I came to the conclusion that I’d read it with expression. Not flat as most do. The Priest didn’t know what to make of me & gave me a hard time. But, those listening loved it, so I pushed through. Today, those congregations are growing. I still read my way, funny though, others are trying to emulate me. I tell them just be you. They respond, but I want to do it like you. You can’t. Why? Because you were designed to be you.
That's a really interesting point. I've had my comedy and writing compared to a few fantastic people (Heinlein, Douglas Adams) and these are great comparisons for adverts and marketing, but on a personal level it's important as an artist not to become attached to them.
I often read four or more books simultaneously, as a practice to avoid any undue influence on my own style and ideas. I wouldn't want to ape another writer, and I am glad that, way back in 2016 I had a professor tell me I already had a strong writer's voice.
The next few books are going to be really good. I will post here when beta reading slots open up :)
I had two professors. The 1st guided me to believe in myself and think for myself. A great man.
The 2nd, was so impressed with my writings, that she told me to quit college. I didn’t need it, & just write. I hope to do just that. It’s just this crazy juggling of not enough time. lol 😂
I feel that. I went part time at my day job this week specifically for the writing (and to avoid burnout) and I had to justify myself to work. I have a health condition called having a soul, and that soul needs time to grow and discover things which aren't spreadsheets.
Keep up the great work. I agree with you, if I only interviewed clones of me, it would be boring even for myself.

Hey Susan, thanks for your nice comment. It can be a strange journey, being yourself, but I find it is worth it in the end.
And I am glad you don't agree in totality with me, by tomorrow I probably won't either, and that's why we've got to just keep being ourselves :)
Thank you for the blessing <3
