Edit 1: This has rapidly became my most popular story. It recieved an honorable mention for an award, and kept being shared by readers. Thanks to your support, I have regained my motivation to keep writing stories like this, and to get another book out soon.
Edit 2: As of October 2023, Cinnabar Moth Publishing has acquired the rights to this story, meaning you won’t be able to see it here any more. They’re a fantastic group of people and I am honoured to have them as my first proper trad-pub publisher (yes, really, I haven’t gotten one until now)*
*Unless you count postcardshorts, which has sadly shut down.
The full short story will be featured in Cinnabar’s Feb 2024 anthology.

I enjoy stories that deal with truly non human perspectives, so this was up my alley and I liked it. But I will admit I hard trouble 'translating' some of the descriptions to what I'd recognize them as, making the world a bit hazy to me. In a sense that fits with how different a mushroom is.
Also quite the ominous ending.
Amazing story, Philip. I was mesmerized from beginning to end.
