So I was interviewed by Patrick Abbott recently for his author interview podcasts. He’s a great guy and a fantastic interviewer, and it was a privilege to be on his show.
He was surprised by how detailed my answer for ‘why do you care about time travel?’ was, and you can see (hear) why below.
I will also be posting the full interview to my podcast here in the near future.
We talked about
Why time travel is so important that it transcends the genre it is usually associated with (science fiction) and develops its own brand elsewhere (romance, poetry)
The true origins of science fiction (spoiler, it isn’t Mary Shelley, though she did define the genre as many of us see it today)
Why and how I got into standup, and how improv comedy emerges from my natural writing style
Some other fun stuff I forgot about
It was a lot of fun, and it’s worth checking out. It’s the closest thing you’ll get to my Geek Fayre time travel lecture, which sadly didn’t happen as it was too late notice and nobody had heard about it. It will happen some other time.
Anyway, here’s the link to Patrick’s interview with me.
And about my own podcast, I am planning to repub old episodes here soon. I think more people need to see the ones with John Coon and Devilish Bookworms. I think I will stick with The Phillip Carter Show as a title, as it seems I am the only constant through this audio visual show of poetry, comedy, sci-fi, and more comedy.
I’ll write a small post about the Manchester Geek Fayre soon, as well as an update about a new poetry book I put out, which I didn’t write.
